GLENDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Police say an Apollo High School student has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Tuesday morning.

According to Sgt. John Roth with the Glendale Police Department, the 17-year-old student was crossing Northern Avenue within the crosswalk at 47th Avenue when she was hit by a car heading west on Northern Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and the girl was taken to a hospital, initially with life-threatening injuries. In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Sgt. Roth said the teen is now in stable condition, and is with her family at a local hospital.

Police officials say speed, impairment and/or distracted driving do not appear to be factors, and no criminal charges or traffic violations are pending for the driver.
