Phoenix middle schooler made shooting threats: PD

A Phoenix middle school student who allegedly made threats to shoot other kids had a gun in his bedroom, police said.

October 6

  • Southern Avenue and McClintock Drive, Tempe: Police say officers tried to stop a vehicle related to criminal activities in the area. The driver, however, failed to yield, and officers lost track of the suspect. The car was later found crashed nearby, and the two people inside the car fled. One of the two was letter detailed, and subsequently taken to the hospital. The other remains at large.
  • Loop 101 and Baseline Road, Tempe: Police officials say a rollover crash happened in the area, and one car occupant had to be taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

  • Seeing smoke? Fire burning in Phoenix
  • 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, Phoenix: A serious motorcycle crash shut down the intersection. No other details have been released.

AZ trailer fire sent pillar of smoke into the air

A trailer fire near 31st Avenue and Buckeye in Phoenix sent a tall, black plume of smoke into the Phoenix air that could be seen for miles. FOX 10's Brian Webb reports.

Alleged luring incidents left parents worried

Parents in parts of North Phoenix say they are concerned for their children's safety, after two students with the Deer Valley Unified School District reported separate, but similar alleged incidents of luring. FOX 10's Lauren Clark reports.

October 4

  • 27th Avenue and Maryland, Phoenix: Two people were displaced after an apartment fire at around 9:45 p.m.
  • 75th Avenue and Indian School Road, Phoenix: Six people were displaced following a house fire. Crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene and put out flames in the attic. No injuries were reported.

Woman kidnapped by man test-driving her car: PD

Phoenix Police officials say they have arrested a man in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident involving a woman who was trying to sell her car. FOX 10s Steve Nielsen reports.

October 3

  • 4th and Roosevelt Streets, Phoenix: Crews responded to a commercial building fire in downtown Phoenix. Firefighters found garbage burning behind the building. Everyone got out safely and the flames were quickly extinguished. No one was hurt.
  • 43rd Avenue and Glendale, Phoenix - An adult male pedestrian was struck and killed by a car at around 7:15 p.m. The driver stayed at the scene. Impairment did not appear to be a factor, police said.
  • Speed likely a factor in west Phoenix crash that left woman dead: police
  • Man kidnapped woman, took her car in north Phoenix: police
  • Interstate 10 and Baseline Road, Guadalupe: Crews responded to a first-alarm fire in Guadalupe. The fire burned a vacant home. The cause of the flames are under investigation.

Woman killed in 3-car west Phoenix crash

Police say speed is possibly a factor in a three-car crash in west Phoenix that left a woman dead and several other people hurt.

October 2

  • 35th Avenue and Camelback Road, Phoenix: Police investigated reported of shots fired at a nearby high school. No injuries were reported, but police said they found evidence of multiple rounds being shot. The investigation is ongoing.
  • 19th and Virginia Avenues, Phoenix: A man, identified as 72-year-old William Davis, was killed in a crash that sent another driver to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. "For unknown reason, [Davis] drifted into oncoming traffic at which time he collided with the second vehicle involved. It is not known if impairment was a factor in the collision," police said.
  • Man shot several times in west Phoenix, investigation underway
  • McDowell and Citrus Roads, Phoenix: Employees were evacuated after smoke was reported in the elevator control room of a three-story storage facility. No one was injured. Officials say it may have been caused by an electrical malfunction.
