PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Four valley non-profit organizations each received $100,000 on Monday from JP Morgan Chase during Phoenix Start Up Week.
The non-profits assist small businesses and work heavily with women and minority entrepreneurs.
"We operate a center of excellence called the Minority Business Center. We provide access to contracts, capital and job creation for women and minority-owned firms," said Gonzalo Delamelena, President of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Delamelena says the four grants support the non-profits and the resources they use to help others.
"The key is how do we begin to diversify the city and unlock it's real potential? The way you unlock it's real potential is by creating healthy businesses, businesses that cane thrive and prosper. Then what happens is the multiplier effect, they begin to hire others, to spend more money, and invest back into the community."
Daniel Valenzuela, the Vice Mayor of Phoenix, says entrepreneurs had everything to do with adding thousands more jobs to the city in recent years.
