2 Gilbert homes showcase spooky, fun and different Halloween displays
GILBERT, Ariz. - As Halloween is around the corner, out comes some pretty spooky displays around the Valley.
A couple of Gilbert homes have some pretty wicked decorations and kids from all over the neighborhood were hanging out at the homes Friday night, having some good old spooky fun.
Graveyards, fog machines
Everyone needs a good scare this time of year, and residents in the Gilbert neighborhood are no exception.
With Halloween displays lining the streets, one of the most shocking displays is on Tangle Wood Cove, complete with thousands of lights and skeletons galore.
It features a graveyard and an extra treat for the kids – a fog machine.
Jay Ortiz and his wife have been casting a spell on the neighborhood for several years now.
"Everybody loves it. Most people are just like, they ask questions, like how do you even start with this and how do you store all of this stuff?" he said.
The answer: They had to rent out a 30-foot storage unit just to keep it all in the off-season.
'At the end of the day, it really is for the kids …'
Just a few doors down is a less scary, but a more out-of-this-world display.
"It's like, it's not scary, but it's Halloween. Just more Disney-ish," Henry Bowman said.
He transitioned from a Pirates in the Caribbean-themed house to a Star Wars-themed house.
Maggie Brimie helped set up the display.
"It's awesome. It's also awesome seeing people's reactions to it. So that's like one of my favorite parts, just seeing people walk by," she said. "At the end of the day, it really is for the kids."
Neighbors have made it a tradition to check out Halloween displays nearby.
"We come here every year and for my son and I. We like to come out and create new memories. He's fearless and we like to get spooked," Jacqueline Hong said.
