El Mirage police officer died following foot pursuit
EL MIRAGE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - El Mirage police officials said one of their officers has died, following a foot pursuit near Acoma and Grand Avenue on Tuesday morning.
The officer was identified by El Mirage Police officials as Paul Lazinsky, 58. Officer Lazinsky, according to officials, was pursuing a wanted subject at the time of the incident.
El Mirage Police announced Officer Lazinsky's death, during a news conference held Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, Lazinsky served for 20 years in the U.S. Army, prior to working as a police officer, and was 10 months away from retirement.
El Mirage Police officials did not get into the specifics of the investigation, due to an ongoing investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). The suspect Officer Lazinsky was pursuing at the time of the incident, according to officials, is a juvenile.
