Man dead following train derailment northeast of Kingman
NEAR TRUXTON, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Officials with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office say a man is dead and another suffered significant injuries, following a train derailment northeast of Kingman.
According to Sheriff's officials, they responded to a call of a train collision outside of Truxton at around 3:00 p.m., and when deputies arrived at the scene, they saw one of the trains derailed, and the other received significant damage.
According to a BNSF spokesperson Tuesday night, the incident happened near the towns of Truxton and Peach Springs.
Sheriff's officials say Tuesday night the man who suffered significant injuries was evacuated from the scene by a DPS helicopter. No identities were released, and BNSF spokeswoman Lena Kent declined to say whether the people killed or injured were BNSF employees.
Meanwhile, NTSB has been notified of the crash, and are involved in the ongoing investigation.
