Abrazo hospital in Goodyear holds 5th annual Rescue Roundup

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- The Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear held its 5th annual Rescue Roundup over the weekend, which brings together the community and first responders in hopes to educate the public about stroke prevention, heart health, and prescription medication.

Christina Oh, the CEO of the Abrazo West Campus, says its Rescue Roundup is a great way to highlight the work its staff is doing.

"It's really an opportunity for us to showcase how we help people live happier, healthier lives," Oh said.

For five years, the Level 1 Trauma Center in Goodyear has opened its parking lot in hopes to educate the public about the sometimes confusing medical world.

"It's a great way to show the community that sometimes health starts with prevention," Oh said. "So we have a lot of health education."

Several members of the community, including fellow Boy Scouts Kyler, Eli, and Jake, say getting up close and personal with the emergency equipment can be a lot of fun.

"I think it's really cool to see one like 5 feet in front of you," a Kyler said.

"It's like a once [in a lifetime] event," Eli and Jake said.

Oh also said this event is a great way for the public to meet and thank first responders in a safe and calm situation.

"This is just a way to showcase how great [the staff] are," Oh said. "[It] also helps people see them in a non-threatening environment where they're able to learn before they need them."
