5 hospitalized after truck crashes into 40-foot ravine near Lake Pleasant
PEORIA, Ariz. - Peoria Police say a group of people inside a pickup truck were injured after a late night crash near Castle Hot Springs Road and State Route 74, not far from Lake Pleasant.
The truck was carrying five people – four adults and a child, Officer Kristopher Babros with Peoria Police said. No other vehicles were involved.
Ken Wier of the Peoria Fire-Medical Department says the truck had driven off Castle Hot Springs Road at a high speed and crashed into a 40-foot ravine, landing on its roof.
"The location where the truck ended up was inaccessible by foot, so a technical-rescue evacuation using rope systems was employed," added Wier.
The five patients were transported to local hospitals. Their names, ages, and conditions weren't released.
Babros says investigators are looking into whether impairment played a role in the crash.
